You can now share Google Search results straight from the Google app. Which should prove useful the next time someone asks you a question which a quick Google Search could have answered. The feature is currently only in beta, but we hope it sticks.

Let Me Google That for You

I suspect everybody reading this has been asked a simple, straightforward question that someone could have found the answer to on Google. If it’s an aged friend or family member, it’s forgivable, but if it’s someone constantly on their phone, it’s annoying.

Previously, you had the choice of either bluntly telling them to go Google it, or sending them a link to LMGTFY (Let Me Google That For You Sick of People Asking You to Google for Them? Use This Site Sick of People Asking You to Google for Them? Use This Site Google can answer anybody’s questions in an instant, but some people still ask others to search the web for them. Next time that happens, here’s the site you should use. Read More ). Now, you can passive-aggressively point them to Google Search and let them figure it out for themselves.

How to Share a Google Search

The option to share a Google Search result is currently available in the Google app beta for Android. So you’ll need to have opted into using the beta to gain access to the feature. However, it should make its way to the standard version soon.

If you have access to the Google app beta for Android, all you need to do to share your Google Search results is:

  1. Open the Google app.
  2. Conduct a search as you would normally.
  3. Tap the Share icon on the right-hand side of the Search bar.
  4. Choose how you want to share your search results.

You’ll share your Google Search results in the form of a “search.app.goo.gl” link. Options include copying it to your clipboard, or sharing it via Gmail, Facebook, and Dropbox. The recipient can then click the link to conduct the same Google Search as you.

Crucially, you don’t share your actual results, but the term you searched for instead. This is likely because Google delivers personalized results to different people based on their location and other data they have collected about you. With permission, of course.

Get More Out of Google Search

This isn’t a life-changing addition to Google Search, but it is a neat feature you can make use of the next time someone asks you an easily-answerable question. I must admit I still like the way LMGTFY delivers the results, but this is less likely to cause offense.
